Kilkenny Stars U14 first win of the season
Good win for Stars in this hard fought victory over Castlecomer. Outstanding offensive play from Castlecomer James Coogan who scored 11 baskets throughout this game, was matched by a resolute Stars defence who worked hard to keep Coogan at bay.
Castlecomer got off to a good start taking a 7 to 4 point lead at the end of the 1st quarter. Stars dominated the 2nd quarter scoring 12 points and kept Castlecomer scoreless. Castlecomer won the 3rd quarter 12 to 7 with Coogan scoring 5 of the 6 baskets, but Hanley scored three baskets in a row for Stars to keep a gap between the teams.
The final quarter saw Coogan get 4 further baskets for Castlecomer but Pelser hit 3 in a row for Stars to allow Stars hold out for their first win of the season at u14.
