Founded on September 2, 1985 the Kilkenny and South East Area Basketball Board is charged with organising and developing the sport of basketball within the club structure for the whole South East region of Ireland.

The board covers a wide area with clubs from Wicklow, Carlow, Wexford, Tipperary, Laois, Waterford and Kilkenny playing in the various leagues. In addition to organising competitions from under 10 to senior level in both male and female sections, the Board also organises and runs courses for Coaches, Referees and Table Officials.
